Remembering Bruce Lee

“Don't get set into one form, adapt it and build your own, and let it grow, be like water.

Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way round or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves.

Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless — like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; you put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle; you put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”Bruce Lee - A Warrior’s journey.

Last night was spent on a vigil with the greatest martial artist of our time, Lee Jun Fan also known as Bruce Lee.

I watched almost all of his films from Fist of Fury to his latest Biography, The Dragon produced by his widow Mrs Linda Lee.

I have watched these movies before as a child, back then I was more fascinated with his unique martial act skills, his kung fu moves, smart kicks and punches, jumps and leaps, smart use of the dragon (2 short sticks bridged by a small chain) their languages and other action and comic packed scenarios.

Watching these epic classic movies again as an Adult, I find more inspiration from his great philosophies of life through his words.

Bruce Lee challenged convention. He didn’t believe life should take a rigid pattern, he believes any technique, however worthy and desirable, becomes a disease when the mind is obsessed with it, all men are equal irrespective of their nationalities and there is no scared or secret customs anywhere in the world. His general philosophy expresses the freedom of man which we are yet to achieve till now and sees only possibilities. To him, impossibilities do not exist.

In one scene of his biography movie –The Dragon, he opened a training school where he taught Americans the “sacred” Chinese martial arts, this act didn’t go down well with his Chinese counterparts who believes the blacks, the whites and other nationalities were enemies of the Chinese state as such should not be taught one of Chinese finest and scared act (The Martial Art); he was summoned by the Elders of the Chinese Temple, who warned him to desist from the act or else risk losing his life in a battle with the fiercest man at that time.

Bruce Lee refused their order and went ahead to challenge the man whom he won convincingly and went ahead to continue his training.

In another movie – Enter the Dragon, he had a one on one conversation with his Master (teacher) on mental attitude to challenges in the following dialogue:

Master: What are your thoughts when facing an opponent?

Bruce Lee: There is no opponent.

Master: Why is that?

Bruce Lee: Because the word ''I'' does not exist. A good fight should be like a small play...but played seriously. When the opponent expands, I contract. When he contracts, I expand. And when there is an opportunity... I do not hit...it hits all by itself (shows his fist).
Any technique
, however worthy and desirable, becomes a disease when the mind is obsessed with it (Rigidity).

One of Bruce Lee’s Achilles heels was his stubbornness, the stubbornness which ironically he used as his main vehicle to success. Being stubborn could a positive trait depending on how you use it.

His strength lies in his fearlessness (he fought and conquered his fears in The Dragon) and over confidence which he also used to achieve solid advantage over his opponents.

“As long as I can remember I feel I have this great creative and spiritual force within me that is greater than faith, greater than ambition, greater than confidence, greater than determination, greater than vision. It is all these combined. My brain becomes magnetized with this dominating force which I hold in my hand.”

He sees problems as challenges’ and sees his challenges’ as serious plays. He was a very fair person and believes strongly in justice. Do me; I do you kind of justice. He was also a highly creative person.

He was also a nationalist to the core in respective of his believes; A Chinese American by birth; I remember a touching scenario in The Dragon, when he told his mother in-law his intention to get married to her daughter. The mother in-law didn’t like the idea at all and tried dissuading her daughter from going ahead with the plan, she touched a sore point in Bruce’s heart when she told him point blankly he is half American and their kids can never be full American because of his Chinese blood.

Knowing Bruce; that was the challenge he needed for his serious play in getting married to his wife.

His Water theory is a very deep way of describing flexibility. Water is not rigid; it conforms to whatever situation it finds itself; be it a bowl, bottle, flask or cup. It adapts and waits for the right opportunity to move to the next level.

Water is the most flexible element in the world, move it from a cup to a bowl and it will instantly conform to the shape of the bowl.

On techniques, he says The highest technique is to have no technique. My technique is a result of your technique; my movement is a result of your movement.

A good JKD man does not oppose force or give way completely. He is pliable as a spring; he is the complement and not the opposition to his opponent’s strength. He has no technique; he makes his opponent's technique his technique. He has no design; he makes opportunity his design.

One should not respond to circumstance with artificial and "wooden" prearrangement. Your action should be like the immediacy of a shadow adapting to its moving object. Your task is simply to complete the other half of the oneness spontaneously. In combat, spontaneity rules; rote performance of technique perishes”.

You can read more of his philosophical quotes from Wikipedia quotes and this link: http://www.fightingmaster.com/masters/brucelee/quotes.htm or his main site: www.brucelee.com

Bruce Lee was born Lee Jun Fan on the 27th of November 1940 in San Francisco USA and raised in Hong Kong; he died on July 20th 1973 at the peak of his carrier.

In his brief life span, he was a philosopher, great martial artist, film director and founder of Jeet Kune Do – meaning - The Way of the Intercepting Fist.

He is widely considered as the most influential martial artist of the 20th Century and a solid cultural icon. He was named by Times magazine as one of 100 most influential people of the 20th Century.

His Hong Kong and Hollywood-produced films elevated the traditional Hong Kong martial arts films to a new level of popularity and acclaim, and sparked the second major surge of interest in Chinese martial arts in the West. The direction and tone of his films changed and influenced martial arts and martial arts films in Hong Kong and the rest of the world as well. He is noted for his roles in five feature length films, Lo Wei's The Big Boss (1971) and Fist of Fury (1972); Way of the Dragon (1972), directed and written by Bruce Lee; Warner Brothers' Enter the Dragon (1973), directed by Robert Clouse, and The Game of Death (1978).

Lee became an iconic figure known throughout the world and remains very popular among Asian people and in particular among the Chinese, as he portrayed Chinese nationalism and upheld the Chinese national pride at a crucial time in history and also of Asians through his movies which reached every part of the known world.

While Lee initially trained in Wing Chun, he later rejected well-defined martial art styles, favouring instead to utilize useful techniques from various sources in the spirit of his personal martial arts philosophy he dubbed Jeet Kune Do.

His deep insights philosophies are still very relevant in every section and situation of our lives today depending on we use them.

His words will forever be seeds germinating at different times to different people depending on their awareness and implementation.

His Life and Legend is just starting... Catch you later as I return to my fun filled weekend of Bruce Lee.

HaC - Opportunity to Write Your Own Success Story

Word Web electronic dictionary defines “Opportunity” as “A possibility due to a favourable combination of circumstances” it also classifies opportunity as “chance”.

Someone once told me that opportunity moves in circles and it come to most people only once in their life time and if they are not smart enough to grab it the moment it comes to them, the chances are high that they might not see it again in their life time. Few people are lucky to see opportunity more than once in their life time.

To some, it comes early in their life while others get their turn at a later period of their lives, but it doesn’t matter when it comes, because with it comes a total life transformation for the better for those whose eyes and minds are opened to it. The aftermath of a lost opportunity is regrets.

Information is opportunity’s most favourite route. The man who is willing to seek information is most certain to come across many opportunities in his life time but might not utilize any because seeing it is one thing and grabbing it is another.

The one who sees and grabs before asking questions is most likely to be opportunity’s best friend and reap the massive rewards that comes with it.

The one who sees it and does not grab is worse than the one who never saw it at all.

To seek information is knowledge; to apply knowledge learnt is wisdom.

Opportunity is an open window to success, most can see but only few are smart enough to jump through. Every window the smart ones jumps through opens up another window for greater success, the circle never stops.

That’s the big difference between the poor and the rich. The rich man keeps jumping through while the poor sits by and watches him jump.

We run two parallel worlds right now, the physical and the electronic world. The physical world often called the hardware runs strictly on physical movements from one points to another while the later world called the software world runs all its points from one location with the use of the internet platform through a PC, laptop or mobile phone device.

What it takes the physical world to achieve in one hour with all its running around, the e-world achieves in less than a minute from one spot!

The physical world is full of so much stress while the other is full of so much comfort. Because we are so used to the everyday stress of the physical world which we have known since we were born, we tend to doubt the comfort of the e-world.

With the internet there are more than enough opportunities for those who are willing to grab them. The world is a small place with the internet and smart people are making mad millions legitimately every day.

So many open windows and yet very few are courageous enough to jump through.

Seeds planted on the physical world take years to germinate and bear fruits while that of the internet bears its fruits almost instantly.

If you are still holding tight to the physical world at this stage and time with all it stress and pain, all I can say is it’s never too late to let it go and embrace the e-world that offers more comfort and less stress.

If you are already there and cannot make use of its immense potentials to your own benefit, you are not wiser than the man who is yet to get there.

A new window is open right now for you to jump through and write your own success story in Holidays and Cash reward program, all you need to do is come on board and explore the vast opportunities.

Remember wisdom is the application of knowledge. Be wise.

Sefteg Liquidation Verification & Payment Exercise - Change of Venue

Please be informed that there is a change of venue in the upcoming Sefteg Liquidation verification and payment exercise scheduled from tomorrow, Monday 23rd to Friday 27th November, 2009.

The new venue is No. 23, Oba Akinjobi Way, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.

This information was sent to my Zain number via SMS this evening.

Kindly inform others.

Joining Holidays and Cash...

At times, when an opportunity stares us in the face, rest in our palms, chases us around to grab it, we tend to take it for granted, simply because our natural mindset believes “nothing good comes easy” on that premise we turn towards getting things the hard way, believing the harder it is to get, the better or more original it is.

And someone once said the best things in life are free...

That was what happened to me when Holidays and Cash travel program was introduced to me by the founder, Mr Michael Faust and some of the pioneer members of the program before the roll out of the program.

Admitted, I have been involved in several Multi level Marketing (MLM) programs in the past, some I earned the promised take while some have not been fruitful but in all, I have netted far more than I invested in the scheme.

Before the trial period and official roll out of Holidays and Cash, I had the rare opportunity to be inform of the project, I was hunted on Skype, via SMS, phone, emails, chased around on yahoo messenger and Facebook by the founder and pioneer members in Nigeria and India and some of my very close friends to a look at the program content; no way, I am out and no longer interested in MLM I told them, at a point I got so fed up and had to ask some of them if I must be in the program for it to succeed?

Guess you know why, because it came to me too easy, I didn’t have to go out and research for it like I have done now on my own.

All this happened more than a year ago...

Since then a lot of good things have happened to Holidays and Cash without my presence, the company is fast gaining roots worldwide and testimonies are flying everywhere without a single input from me besides publishing an article or two about them.

Some of the testimonies surprising are coming from some of my close friends and past team members who were smart enough to have a more flexible mindset to issues than myself after our initial agreement to quit MLM for good.

It always pays to have a flexible mindset to issues, at least take a look at it and decide rather than throwing everything away.

I blanked out of MLM then not because of the stress involved in cycling (that I consider interesting!) but because at a point I felt the board system we were operating then was unfair to some while at the same time more than fair to a few. Few benefits while many did not because of a reward process that rewards only the leader and leaves the followers dry in most cases.

It was supposed to be a team building thing where the up line (sponsor) supports the down line (newbie) and down line now an up line to another down line supports his down line to become an up line to another down line and so on.

This was not happening because the board matrix system we were using then splits and separates up lines from down lines leaving the down lines struggling on their own.

Out of desperation for some down lines to move up and split a board, they duplicate themselves while some up lines in their thirst for more money duplicates themselves after making a successful cycle.

Thereby creating stall boards because a board that is suppose to take 3, 5 or 7 different people from different teams to split (depending on the MLM) ends up with 1 or 2 same individuals struggling to split it.

The resultant effect was of course no one moved and almost everyone lost; sad enough the board system encourages people to duplicate themselves!

So many other issues resulted in the almost dead state of the board matrix system and frustrated so many people out of a system that a lot of people was suppose to benefit from on a turn by turn basis, but the part I considered the most painful was the issue of up lines abandoning their down lines.

MLM to be honest is an exciting experience for people who are interested in making money; like every other business, it has its challenges which are very interesting for those who love marketing and networking.

One of the strong points of an MLM is encouraging one another to grow and apart from the fact that it’s an opportunity to earn an extra income outside your regular job or business.

I know a lot of smart people who earn far more income through MLM than what they earn in the regular jobs without affecting their current job performance.

My first one million Naira cash was earned through an MLM platform in just 6 weeks!

MLM provides a solid networking platform for people for from all works of life, unifying them by the single purpose of uplifting their current social status.

I made a lot of close friends whom we speak at length on phone till date and the first time we ever to get to see our faces were either through Facebook or some other social networking platforms or by chance meetings locally.

Back to the purpose of this article, I have since realised my mistake and have recently retraced my steps back to MLM through Holidays and Cash Travel and reward program (After all it's better late than never) because it happened to have answered most of my questions and have aligned itself to my belief on what a fair MLM program should be... encouraging one another to succeed.

Holidays and Cash is an online binary system of MLM where an up line is only entitled to 2 down lines and his rewarded for the third sale attached to one of his down lines; meaning if up line A has succeeded in making his two successful sale (down lines B & C) he is only rewarded when either B or C makes a sale (down line D) and the circle repeats itself every three sales done by the team.

The system attempts to eliminate the process of duplication of account (mentioned earlier as one of the demerits of board matrix system) in its quest to make everyone a winner.

I used the word “attempt” because I know it is still exposed to account duplication because the current process of checkmating dual account registration is through mobile phone numbers and e-mail addresses of applicants but I agreed it’s a step in the right direction and subject to further improvements.

Another unique thing about Holidays and Cash is the weekly payout to cyclers every week - Sundays.

I fancy their easy registration payment system which is very transparent, stress free and does not encourage confusion.

With them you can either pay your registration fees ($250 or 40,000 Naira – Nigerians) through online banking, domiciliary account, Master Card or Visa card or direct purchase of voucher from their approved distributors advertised on the payment section of their website.

Please note payment is valid for one year from date of registration.

They have made the MLM thing more interesting through professional innovative thinking; one of such act is motivating outstanding members by rewarding them with Cash, brand new cars and an all expense trip to different countries depending on the member’s position every quarter.

In the coming days I will be writing more about their interesting travel packages and the exciting reward program that comes with purchasing it, what it takes and steps to succeed in this type of MLM, strictly for those interested in taking charge of the lives and damning the global recession challenges.

Give it to them, Holidays and Cash is it!
